BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is a widely used assessment method for buildings. This sets the standards for best practice in sustainable design. Established criteria and a scoring system are used to allocate credits under a variety of different categories.

The aim of Hea04 is to ensure that appropriate thermal comfort levels are achieved through design, and controls are selected to maintain a thermally comfortable environment for occupants within the building.

There are three BREEAM credits associates with Hea04:

• Thermal Modelling.
• Adaptability – for a projected climate change scenario.
• Thermal zoning and controls.
